ARA---------------------------A social audit under the MGNREGA scheme will be conducted in all panchayats across the Bhojpur district. Acting on the directives of the Social Audit Society (under the Rural Development Department, Bihar), the district administration has issued orders to this effect. The objective is to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of the scheme.

As part of the social audit, a Gram Sabha (Village Assembly) combined with a public hearing will be organized in every panchayat. During these public hearings, villagers will be given ample opportunity to voice their complaints, suggestions, and objections. Additionally, any irregularities observed in the ongoing schemes under MGNREGA will be reviewed.
The District Magistrate has also nominated jury members to preside over these public hearings. These jury members will adjudicate the objections raised during the social audit and ensure that necessary action is taken. This initiative will strengthen the process for the impartial resolution of grievances.
According to the administration, the primary objective of the social audit is to enhance public participation in the MGNREGA scheme and to make the implementation of these projects more effective. Through this process, villagers will be made aware of their rights, and the actual status of the various schemes will be brought to light.
The responsibility for overseeing this entire process has been entrusted to Raju Kumar, the District Resource Person. The social audit team will visit the respective panchayats in accordance with a predetermined schedule to conduct a physical verification of the schemes; they will stay overnight at the panchayat level to thoroughly inspect all ongoing works.
Furthermore, this social audit will be conducted using the 'Panchayat Nirnay' app, a digital platform launched by the Government of India. This digital tool aims to ensure transparency in the audit process and provide common citizens with an opportunity to actively participate in it. The District Administration has appealed to all public representatives, concerned officials, and villagers to actively participate in the public hearing and make this crucial process a success, so that the benefits of the MGNREGA scheme reach the needy in a proper manner.
