PATNA----------------------------The Bihar government has once again made a major administrative reshuffle within the police department to further strengthen law and order in the state. According to a notification issued by the Home Department, 7 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) have been transferred, effective September 16, 2025.

Major reshuffle in Araria: Araria district has seen the most changes. Fakhre Alam (2018 batch), who previously held the position of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), has now been appointed DSP (Traffic). Meanwhile, Dewan Ekraar Khan (2024 batch promotee) has been transferred from Araria to Bihar Special Armed Police-7, Katihar. Manoj Kumar Singh has been appointed DSP (Headquarters) in his place.

Focus on Special Security in Patna: The government is fully alert regarding VIP and Secretariat security in the capital, Patna. In light of this, three officers – Ritwik Shiv Ranjan, Akash Kishore, and Shatrughan Kumar Mandal – have been appointed to the Special Security Group (SSG), Patna. These officers previously served in various departments, including Traffic, CID, and the Modernization Branch.

Transfer from Nawada to Special Security Group: Ritwik Shiv Ranjan (2021 batch), who served as DSP (Traffic) in Nawada, has now been transferred to the Special Security Group (SSG) in Patna. This change reflects the government's strategy of prioritizing VIP security.

Transfers from CID and Modernization to SSG: Akash Kishore (2022 batch), who was previously serving in the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Patna, has also been appointed to the Special Security Group. Additionally, Shatrughan Kumar Mandal, who was DSP in the SSO and Modernization Branch, will now be part of the SSG.

Changes in Katihar and Secretariat security: DSP Manoj Kumar Singh, posted in Patna's Secretariat security, has been transferred to Araria, while Rajesh Ranjan (2024 batch promotee), who was previously posted in the Bihar Special Armed Police-1, Patna, has been given charge of Secretariat security.

Law and order paramount: According to sources, recent serious challenges related to crime control, traffic management, and VIP security have emerged. The frequent incidents, particularly in border districts and the capital Patna, have alerted the government. These transfers have been made keeping these circumstances in mind.

The government's message from these transfers is clear: These transfers clearly indicate that the Bihar government does not want any laxity on law and order and security issues. The appointment of three officers to the Special Security Team and the changes in Secretariat security indicate that the government is not willing to take any risks with security, especially in the capital. More administrative reshuffles are expected in the coming days.
