ARA---------------------------An interstate heroin smuggler, wanted for demanding a ransom of ten lakh rupees in a land dispute in the Anaith locality of the Nawada police station area, surrendered in the Ara court on Saturday following a police raid. He is Abhishek Kumar, son of Jitendra Ram, a resident of Anaith locality in the Nawada police station area. He was named as the main smuggler in the seizure of more than two kilograms of heroin in May of this year. He had been absconding since then.
The police will remand him in the heroin smuggling case. They will also interrogate him in that case. He will be taken on police remand soon for this. According to Station House Officer Bipin Bihari, on May 26th of this year, Bal Bachan Singh Patel, a resident of Anaith locality, was prevented from fencing his own land.
He was assaulted and a ransom of ten lakh rupees was demanded. In that case, Bal Bachan Singh Patel had filed an FIR against seven people, including Abhishek Kumar. Five days later, Abhishek Kumar's name came up in the recovery of over two kilograms of heroin. He had been absconding since then. Continuous raids were being conducted to arrest him. Frustrated by this, heroin smuggler Abhishek Kumar surrendered in court.
On the morning of May 30th this year, a joint team of the Special Task Force (STF) and Nawada police station recovered two kilograms (107 grams) of heroin, worth approximately five crore rupees, and Rs. 1.25 lakh from the Dhobi Ghatwa-Anaith locality of the city. Two heroin smugglers were also arrested. Earlier, two smugglers were arrested with 1047 grams of heroin from a car near Dhobi Ghatwa. Later, following their information, over one kilogram (1064 grams) of heroin, four passbooks from various banks in the name of Abhishek Kumar, checkbooks from various banks against various individuals, and other investment documents, small plastic bags, rubber bands, and ₹111,000 were recovered from the home of Abhishek Kumar, a resident of Anaith Mohalla.
However, upon receiving word of the raid, Abhishek Kumar managed to escape. Interrogation of the arrested smugglers revealed that the heroin consignment was brought from Naushad Khan, a resident of Zamania, Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. Interrogation of the two revealed the entire heroin smuggling syndicate.
The arrested smugglers told the police that approximately three kilograms of heroin had previously been brought from Zamania, Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, at Abhishek Kumar's behest. The heroin was to be supplied to Punpun, Taregana, Masaurhi, Bhojpur, and Jehanabad areas of Patna district. The smugglers also named other individuals who had purchased heroin. Based on this information, the police arrested three smugglers. However, the main smuggler, Abhishek Kumar, remained at large.
