‘OPERATION CLEAN’ IN PATNA, SUV TIGHTENS NOOSE ON THE RICH DEPUTY DIRECTION OF THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

PATNA--------------------------Corruption has suffered another major blow in Bihar. On Thursday morning, when people were starting their day, the teams of the Special Surveillance Unit (SVU) raided the hideouts of a 'government rich' who had made the temple of education a means of earning his black money. The target was Dr. Virendra Narayan, the regional education deputy director (deputy director) of Tirhut division, who is accused of earning property worth about Rs 4 crore more than his income.

This 'Operation Clean' of SVU was carried out simultaneously in three districts—Patna, Muzaffarpur and Purnia—which created a stir from the education department to the administrative corridors. From the luxurious house in Jaganpura, Patna to the office and residence in Muzaffarpur, and the house in Rambagh, Purnia, SVU started searching every hideout.

According to sources, Dr. Virendra Narayan was on the radar of SVU for a long time. He is accused of abusing his position during his job, especially while holding important posts like DEO, and making huge wealth. When concrete evidence of illegal property worth about ₹ 3.75 crore was found in the preliminary investigation, SVU registered an FIR (Case No. 18/25) under the Prevention of Corruption Act on September 10 and carried out this big action this morning.

During the search, the investigation team has got hold of many important documents. It is being told that these include papers of many benami properties, information about bank lockers, expensive investments and evidence related to the purchase and sale of land.

This action is a clear indication that the government is in no mood to tolerate corruption at any cost. This action of SVU is being considered a big example to crack down on such corrupt officials sitting in the education department. Now it remains to be seen which other big faces the heat of the investigation reaches.
