SASARAM-----------------------------A 19-year-old man committed suicide by self-immolation in the New Area neighborhood of the Dehri Nagar police station headquarters. The deceased man, identified as Ankit Kumar, a resident of Ward No. 22, Eidgah Mohalla, Dehri, doused himself in petrol in front of his girlfriend's home. The Dehri Nagar police station chief arrived at the scene, took custody of the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination. The FSL team also arrived at the scene and began an investigation. It is reported that 19-year-old Ankit Kumar, a resident of Eidgah Mohalla, Dehri, doused himself in petrol in Bachha Singh Lane, Ward No. 16, New Area. While the young man was burning and screaming, bystanders attempted to rescue him. However, due to the intense burns, he collapsed at the scene and died. Upon receiving information about the incident, Dehri Nagar police station chief Shivendra Kumar and the FSL team have begun investigating the case. It is reported that the girl's father, fed up with the affair, had arranged her marriage elsewhere. Upon learning of the incident, the young man arrived and after a heated argument with the girl's family, doused her with petrol and set her on fire, resulting in her death at the scene.
The deceased youth's father, Rakesh Kumar Rajak, who arrived after learning of the incident, stated that his son had been in a love affair with a girl from the same street for nearly two years. He alleged that the girl's father had murdered his son. The deceased youth's mother, Anju Devi, stated that 5-6 months ago, his son and the girl had run away from home with the intention of getting married. After being coaxed and brought back home, an agreement was reached with the girl's family not to commit any further crime. However, the girl's family murdered his son.
Dehri Nagar Police Station in-charge Shivendra Kumar stated that a thorough investigation is being conducted on all counts and action will be taken after that.
