BUXAR----------------------------Panic erupted at the Veer Kunwar Singh Bridge in Buxar district on Sunday when a woman jumped into the Ganges River with her 5-year-old son. Fortunately, fishermen who were fishing below the bridge acted quickly and rescued both of them from the water, saving their lives.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a Dial 112 police team arrived at the scene and took the woman and child to the hospital for treatment. According to local residents, the woman is reportedly from a Scheduled Caste community in Basantpur village of Uttar Pradesh. However, the exact reason why the woman attempted to take this drastic step with her son is not yet clear.
Police said that the matter is being investigated thoroughly, and they are questioning the woman to gather complete information about the incident. Both the mother and son are currently safe. Following the incident, local residents praised the quick thinking and prompt action of the fishermen, which averted a major tragedy.
