BUXAR---------------------------Whenever the JDU has fielded candidates with legal backgrounds in the Dumraon Assembly constituency, it has faced defeat. Therefore, all eyes are on the current candidate, Rahul, to see if he can break this myth.

Whenever the JDU has fielded candidates with legal backgrounds in the Dumraon Assembly constituency, it has faced defeat. Therefore, all eyes are on the current candidate, Rahul, to see if he can break this myth. However, when candidates other than lawyers have been fielded, they have achieved record victories. In 2010, Dr. Dawood Ali was fielded. He opened the JDU's first account in the Dumraon Assembly constituency and won the election by nearly 20,000 votes. In 2015, Dadan Yadav, who left his teaching job to enter politics, was nominated as the candidate.

He won by nearly 30,000 votes. It should be noted that in 1994, George Fernandes and Nitish Kumar founded the Samata Party, which later became the JDU. In 1995, Ram Bihari Singh contested the Dumraon Assembly seat for the first time on a Samata Party ticket. He made a strong presence, though he finished fourth. He remained a JDU candidate until November 2005, but he failed to win. Ram Bihari Singh earned his LLB degree from Patna University in 1981.

In 2020, Anjum Ara was nominated as the candidate. She earned her LLM degree from Patna University in 2009. Anjum Ara also faced defeat. Ram Bihari Singh and Anjum Ara have been involved in politics since their student days.

On the other hand, current candidate Rahul earned his LLB degree from Delhi University in 2012. Videos circulating on social media suggest that he, too, entered politics while still a student. It remains to be seen how successful candidate Rahul Singh will be in dispelling this myth.
