ARA------------------------An Indian man living in Japan for over a year noticed a strange thing: his Japanese friends were polite and helpful, but no one invited him to their home, not even for a cup of tea. Shocked and hurt, he finally asked a Japanese friend why.
After remaining silent for a long time, the friend replied, "We are taught Indian history... but not for inspiration, but as a warning." The Indian man, surprised, asked, "Warning. Is Indian history taught as a warning? Please tell me why?" The Japanese friend asked, "How many British ruled India?" The Indian man said, "Probably... about 10,000?"
The Japanese man nodded seriously and asked, "At that time, there were over 300 million Indians living in India. Right?" "Then who oppressed your people?" Who carried out the orders to flog, torture, and shoot them?
He insisted, "When General Dyer ordered the firing at Jallianwala Bagh, who pulled the trigger? Were they British soldiers? No, they were Indians."
"Why didn't anyone point their rifle at General Dyer, not even one?" He said, "The slavery you talk about was your real slavery. Not of the body, but of the soul."
The Indian man stood there, stunned, silent, and ashamed, listening.
The Japanese friend continued, "How many Mughals came from Central Asia? Maybe a few thousand? And yet they ruled over you for centuries.
The Mughals didn't rule India because of their numerical strength, but because your own people bowed their heads and saluted the Mughals. They betrayed their own people and remained loyal to the Mughals. Either for survival or for silver coins."
"Your own people converted their religion. They married their sisters and daughters to the Mughals."
Your own people handed over your heroes to the British. Who betrayed Chandrashekhar Azad? Who informed the British that he was hiding in Alfred Park?
Was it easy to hang Bhagat Singh without the permission of those (Gandhi-Nehru) who called themselves patriots?
You Indians do not need foreign enemies. Your own people betray you again and again for power, position and personal gain. That is why we Indians maintain distance from them. "When the British came to Hong Kong and Singapore, not a single local person joined their army. But in India, you not only joined the enemy's army but you served them. You worshipped them. To appease them, you killed your own people."
You Indians haven't changed. You haven't learned any lessons from history. Even today, give us a little free electricity, a bottle of liquor, a blanket—and you mindlessly sell your vote, your conscience, your voice—all without a second thought. Your loyalty lies not with your country, but with your stomach.
You shout slogans. You protest. But when the country needs your sacrifice, where are you? Your primary loyalty is still to your home, family, wife, children, and wealth. The rest—country and religion—can go to hell.
With this, the Japanese left, and the Indian stood there like a statue, head bowed in shame.
