ARA-----------------------------The role of social media and IT cell in politics has now become very important. Political parties spend crores of rupees on their IT cell to reach out to the youth and urban voters. But the question is that when the primary goal of the IT cell is to build the image of the leader and to convey the party's policies to the public, is it right to spend time and energy on personal PR?
The current situation of RJD IT cell presents a different picture. Half the time and resources are being spent on proving Sanjay Yadav to be Chanakya and a great strategist. Continuous campaigns are being run to build his image on social media. But serious questions are being raised on how beneficial this strategy is for the party.
The reality is that the eyes of the public and workers are fixed on the party leader Tejashwi Yadav. Tejashwi is the identity and future hope of RJD in Bihar politics. In such a situation, the real focus of the IT cell should be on Tejashwi Yadav's policies, his vision and his claim for the post of Chief Minister.
If the IT cell puts its energy into strengthening Tejashwi Yadav's leadership and his achievements, it will give direct political benefit to the party. Whereas the importance of strategists like Sanjay Yadav should remain within the organization, and not in promoting them as leaders.
It can be said that RJD IT cell will now have to decide whether it will work on the future of the party i.e. Tejashwi Yadav or on the PR of a single person. Because in politics, it is the popularity of the leader that ultimately wins the trust of the public, not the glamour of those who make strategies behind the scenes.
