ARA---------------------A meeting of the District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee was held today under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989 under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Bhojpur Shri Tanay Sultania.

During the meeting, the committee approved the payment of a total amount of ₹ 1,36,80,000 (one crore thirty six lakh eighty thousand) to 188 victims in 114 cases.

Besides, on 06 September 2025, 2 dependents were appointed to the post of attendant in murder cases under section 15 (1) (d) of the Act, which was unanimously approved by the committee.

The District Magistrate informed that so far 5 dependents have been given government jobs in the year 2025. In total, 8 dependents have got appointment in service so far. At present, 70 dependents are being given pension every month. Also, a total compensation of ₹4,55,35,450 (four crore fifty five lakh thirty five thousand four hundred fifty) has been provided to 418 victims/dependents so far in the year 2025.

He also informed that the damaged Anganwadi centers in Scheduled Caste and Tribe dominated tolas are being renovated from the District Mining Fund.

Legislative Council members Shri Shri Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha and Shri Radha Charan Sah, Superintendent of Police, Deputy Development Commissioner Smt. Gunjan Singh, Civil Surgeon, District Statistical Officer, District Minority Officer, District Welfare Officer including committee members Shri Rambabu Paswan, Shri Bhuneshwar Paswan, Shri Shailendra Kumar, Shri Chhatan Ram, Smt. Smita Sinha and Shri Praveen Kumar were present in the meeting.

This meeting proved to be an important step towards ensuring timely assistance and justice to the victims of Scheduled Caste and Tribe category
