VEHICLES AND RESOURCES WORTH CRORES ARE GETTING JUNK

ARA-------------------------Citizens are not benefiting from the expensive machinery purchased for civic amenities in Shahpur Nagar Panchayat. All the new machines are becoming junk while lying idle. The lack of use of these machines raises questions about their purchase. Septic tank vehicles, water ATM machines, solid waste composting machines, and e-rickshaws for door-to-door garbage collection, purchased at a cost of lakhs of rupees, are all lying in the municipal premises, turning into junk. Some of the purchased equipment, such as dry and wet dustbins, street lights, and high-mast lights, have already failed before their intended use.

Case (1) Two septic tank vehicles purchased at a cost of lakhs of rupees are lying abandoned on the Nagar Panchayat campus. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, another new septic tank machine arrived to enhance the city campus.

Case (2) A water ATM machine purchased at a cost of lakhs of rupees is lying abandoned on the Nagar Panchayat campus.

Case (3) A solid waste machine purchased at a cost of lakhs of rupees lies abandoned on the Nagar Panchayat campus.

Case (4) An e-rickshaw garbage vehicle purchased at a cost of lakhs of rupees is becoming junk while stored in a warehouse.

It should be noted that two septic tank vehicles purchased by the Shahpur Nagar Panchayat at a cost of lakhs of rupees lie abandoned on the Municipal Office campus. The vehicles are being exposed to sunlight, water, and dust, turning into junk. They have not been used for a single day. No trained drivers have been appointed to operate them.

As a result, the city residents have not yet benefited from the benefits. Residents are still forced to pay exorbitant fees to have their toilet tanks cleaned from private sources, while both vehicles lie abandoned on the Nagar Panchayat campus, with no one to look after them. Upon seeing a new septic tank vehicle, people began to exclaim, "Another elephant has arrived to enhance the city campus." The big news in this matter is that when residents' toilet tanks are cleaned, the Nagar Panchayat has not made any arrangements for disposing of the waste generated. The lack of a garbage dumping ground is hindering the cleanliness drive in the city. The daily waste generated from various neighborhoods in the ward is being dumped on the roadsides.

It is worth noting that proper disposal of garbage plays a crucial role in city cleanliness. However, in the Shahpur Nagar Panchayat, after garbage collection, it is dumped on the roadsides and then buried with a JCB. This is because the Shahpur Nagar Panchayat has not yet established a dumping ground for waste disposal. Despite this, the Nagar Panchayat continues to purchase dustbins and other equipment, even though they are of no use.

Meanwhile, regarding the garbage dumping on the riverbank in Ward 2, Sarna Road, Patna High Court advocate Shamsher Bahadur Pandey stated that due to the actions of former and current public representatives and officials of Shahpur city, hundreds of acres of fertile land in Shahpur have been ruined. This is why hundreds of acres of land are now unable to drain. Previously, when rain and floodwaters flowed, they would easily flow through the river. Due to the garbage dumping, the river has become clogged and water is now unable to drain.
