PATNA--------------------------A heart-wrenching incident in Janipur area of ​​Patna, the capital of Bihar, shook the entire city. Unknown criminals barged into a house and burnt two innocent children, six-year-old Anjali Kumari and four-year-old Anshu Kumar, alive. The incident took place on the night of July 30, when the children's mother, who works as a nurse at Patna AIIMS, was on duty. The children's father had passed away a few months ago.

According to the police, the criminals barged into the house, locked the children in the room, sprinkled petrol on them and set them on fire. Neighbors tried to extinguish the fire and save the children, but they failed due to the intensity of the flames. Both the children were taken to the hospital, but their lives could not be saved.

Patna SSP Rajiv Mishra said that the police have recovered a bottle of petrol from the spot and the forensic team is engaged in investigation. No arrests have been made so far, but preliminary investigations suspect personal enmity. The incident has raised questions over the law and order situation in Bihar. Local leaders and residents have strongly condemned the brutal act. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has not yet made any statement on the matter.
