BUXAR------------------------------An incident of violence in Sowan village, under the Krishnabrahma police station area, involving electoral rivalry and casteist remarks, has taken a serious turn. Surendra Paswan (60), who was injured in the attack, died during treatment. When his body arrived in the village on Wednesday, the entire area was in an uproar. The family members are inconsolable, and tension prevails in the village.

Station Officer Chanchal Kumar Mahatha stated that taking prompt action in the case, three accused—Chandan Mahato, Prem Mahato, and Mohan Mahato—have been arrested and sent to judicial custody. Police are conducting raids to apprehend the other accused.

In an application filed at the police station, Nidhi Devi, wife of Shyam Narayan Paswan, stated that she arrived at the scene of an attack at Pokhara Mor at around 7 pm on November 8th, where her brother-in-law, Shiv Paswan, was being brutally beaten by the main accused, Satendra Mahato (father Laxman Mahato), while hurling casteist slurs. Meanwhile, other villagers also attacked with sticks and rods.

The 17 accused named in the application are all residents of Sowan village. They include Satendra Mahato, Neeraj Mahato, Rajan Kumar, Mithilesh Kumar, Chandan Kumar, Mohan Mahato, Jaglal Mahato, Shivji Mahato, Sikandar Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, Vishal Kumar, Prem Kumar, Sohan Mahato, Anand Kumar, Vivek Kumar, Anup Kumar, and Lalbabu Mahato.

According to the victim, the attackers alleged that her family did not vote for the "three star symbol," and this was a result of the grudge. During the assault, the house was vandalized and a gold chain weighing approximately 20 grams was stolen. Surendra Paswan, who was seriously injured in the attack, was first referred to a local hospital and then to Patna, where he died during treatment.

Tension has prevailed in the village since the incident. The victim's family is demanding justice and the immediate arrest of all the accused. The police have assured that strict action will be taken against the culprits and they will not be spared under any circumstances. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
