SASARAM--------------------------A case of fraud involving approximately two crore rupees has come to light in the Natwar police station area of the district, where people were cheated on the pretext of supplying rice from the FCI (Food Corporation of India). Police have arrested three people, including RJD leader Pradeep Dev from Gopalganj, and sent them to jail.

The matter came to light when Pankaj Kumar Singh, a resident of Patna, filed a written complaint at the Natwar police station. According to the complaint, the accused took a total of ₹1.98 crore from him in different installments, promising to provide rice from a government FCI warehouse.

According to the police, the main accused, Pradeep Dev, managed to gain the victim's trust by claiming to be the state vice-president of the RJD's Extremely Backward Classes cell. It is alleged that he tried to make the entire deal seem credible by citing his political identity and connections.

The complainant says that despite repeated assurances, neither the rice was supplied nor the money returned. When continuous pressure was applied, it became clear that it was a pre-planned fraud.

Considering the seriousness of the case, the Natwar police station launched a swift investigation. Raids were conducted in Gopalganj, and three people, including the main accused, were arrested. Bikramganj ASP Sanket Kumar said that the initial investigation revealed that the claim of supplying rice from the FCI was completely false.

The police have named a total of 11 people as accused in this case. According to officials, based on the interrogation of the arrested accused, it is being investigated whether a larger gang is active behind this fraud.

The police say that the search for the absconding accused is underway, and the entire network is being investigated. Only after the completion of the investigation will it become clear how extensive this alleged fraud is and who all were involved.
