THE TICKET MARKET IN BIHAR POLITICS—A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY

ARA------------------------Bihar politics was once known for its movements, ideological struggles, and social justice. This was the soil from which historic movements like the JP Movement arose. But sadly, today, this fertile political soil is gradually turning into a barren land of money and influence.

Over the past few years, a very worrying trend has been observed—the game of money for tickets. Now, to contest elections, money has become more important than ideas, struggle, service, and public dedication. This trend not only contradicts the ideals of democracy but also erodes the very soul of politics.

Those who want to enter politics to serve society, those with ideas and a strong support base, are being pushed aside, while tickets are being handed to those with money and influence. This is tantamount to handing politics over to capitalists and opportunists.

Stopping this malpractice is not only the duty of the public, but also of every true political worker. This trend must be openly opposed within parties. Leaders and workers involved in ticket buying and selling must be publicly exposed.

If this trend is not stopped now, this corrupt model of politics will completely destroy the tradition of mass movements in Bihar in the future. And then it will not take long for the public to understand that the biggest threat to democracy comes not from outside, but from within.

In the end, this much can be said: “When politics is for sale, it doesn't take long for the public to buy it—and this is the biggest crisis of democracy.”
