PATNA---------------------------The Bihar Police and Special Task Force (STF) launched a major crackdown against organized crime across the state, arresting top-wanted criminals from several districts. The arrests of these criminals, who were involved in serious crimes like murder, robbery, illegal sand mining, and extortion, are being considered a major success for the police. Additionally, various courts have delivered verdicts in several important cases, sentencing eight criminals to rigorous imprisonment.
According to a release issued by Police Headquarters on September 19, 2025, joint teams of the STF and district police conducted several successful operations in Lakhisarai, Bhojpur, Siwan, and Madhubani over the past few days.
Guddu Yadav, carrying a reward of ₹1 lakh, arrested in Bhojpur: In a major operation on September 18th, the Special Task Force (STF) and Bhojpur police arrested Guddu Yadav, a criminal carrying a reward of ₹1 lakh, near the Koilwar bridge. Yadav was wanted in several cases, including murder, assault on a police team, and extortion, for his role in establishing dominance over illegal sand mining in the Son River region. A mobile phone and two motorcycles were recovered from him.
• Manish Kumar of Lakhisarai arrested in Patna: Manish Kumar alias Mani, a criminal wanted in connection with a murder and firing incident in Lakhisarai, was arrested by the STF and Lakhisarai police on September 18th from the Naubatpur police station area of Patna.
• Murder accused Ghulam Makdoomin arrested in Siwan: Ghulam Makdoomin, wanted in connection with the murder of Vijendra Singh in Jiradei, Siwan, on August 8th, was arrested along with his two associates on September 18th. A pistol, four live cartridges, and six mobile phones were recovered from them.
• Sanjay Jha, one of Madhubani's top 10 criminals, arrested: On September 17, Madhubani police and the Special Task Force (STF) arrested Sanjay Kumar Jha, alias Jurj Sah, one of the district's top 10 criminals, from his home in the Nagar police station area. Sanjay was planning a robbery, which the police foiled. A pistol, two live cartridges, and a magazine were recovered from him. He was wanted in several cases of robbery, dacoity, and the Arms Act.
As a result of the operation and effective police advocacy, various courts have sentenced criminals. Several important verdicts were delivered on September 18:
• Saran: Dharmendra Kumar and two others were sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of 20,000 rupees.
• Saharsa: Imtiyaz alias Chunna was sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of 1 lakh rupees.
• Araria: Mohammad Hasrat was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹50,000 in the Mahila Thana case. In another case, Suraj Kumar Mukhiya was sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment and a fine of ₹3 lakh.
• Madhubani: Suresh Kumar Yadav was sentenced to 13 years, and Shivkumar Das to 5 years of rigorous imprisonment.
• Darbhanga: Dharmendra Kumar alias Golu was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹50,000.
According to Police Headquarters, such coordinated action will continue to strengthen law and order and curb crime in the state.
