The public knows everything, the public. What's inside, what's outside! The public knows everything. This song perfectly fits the history of Shahpur's MLA elections. In the Shahpur assembly constituency, every MLA elected over the past three and a half decades completed a second consecutive term, but was denied a hat-trick.
Pandit Ramanand Tiwari was the only MLA to achieve a hat-trick in the assembly elections. He represented the constituency from 1952 to 1972. However, from 1972 to 1990, all MLAs served only once. Which includes freedom fighter Pandit Suryanath Choubey, Professor Jagnarayan Mishra, Anandi Prasad Sharma and Pandit Bindeshwari Dubey.
Pandit Bindeshwari Dubey became the Chief Minister of unified Bihar by winning the assembly elections in 1985. Among the MLAs who won twice in a row, only Shivanand Tiwari was successful in getting the post of minister. After the year 1990, all the MLAs who became MLAs in Shahpur assembly have won the elections twice.
Late Dharampal Singh from 1990 to 2000, Shivanand Tiwari from 2001 to 2005, Shivanand Tiwari in the mid-term elections of 2005, Munni Devi from 2005 to 2015 and Rahul Tiwari from 2015 to 2015. But no one was successful in scoring a hat-trick. After 1990, all the MLAs who became MLAs in Shahpur assembly have won the elections twice. Late Dharampal Singh from 1990 to 2000, Shivanand Tiwari from 2001 to 2005, Shivanand Tiwari in the 2005 mid-term elections, Munni Devi from 2005 to 2015 and Rahul Tiwari from 2005 to 2015. But no one managed to score a hat-trick.
