ARA (RNI) Today, when there is a festive atmosphere all around, we all are celebrating the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Krishna together. Janmashtami, also known as Krishna Janmashtami, is one of the most important festivals of Hinduism. This festival marks the birth of Shri Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who incarnated on earth to destroy adharma and establish dharma.
Janmashtami is not just a festival, but it is a deep experience of devotion, love and joy. On this day devotees observe fast, sing bhajans and kirtans throughout the night and remember the leelas of Lord Krishna. Mathura and Vrindavan, where Lord Krishna performed his childhood leelas, come especially alive on this day. Tableaux are decorated in temples, Raas Leela is organized and chants of ‘Nand ke Anand Bhayo, Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki’ keep resonating.
The life of Lord Shri Krishna teaches us many important teachings. His childhood pastimes teach us that mischief and joy also have their own importance in life. By lifting the Govardhan mountain on his finger, he showed that any difficulty can be overcome with true devotion and faith. The teachings of the Bhagavad Gita given to Arjun in the battle of Kurukshetra still inspire us to follow the path of duty, karma and dharma.
On the day of Janmashtami, devotees wait for the birth of the Lord till 12 o'clock at night. At midnight, when the moon is at its peak, devotees swing Bal Gopal in the cradle and celebrate his birthday. Many types of traditional dishes like Makhan-Mishri, Kheer, and Peda are made on this occasion. These dishes are not only offered to the Lord, but it is also believed that eating them brings happiness and prosperity.
The festival of Janmashtami reminds us that no matter how many challenges there are in life, if we follow the path of religion and truth, victory is certain. This festival gives us the message of love, kindness and dedication, which inspires us to become a better human being. This Janmashtami, let us all take inspiration from the life of Lord Shri Krishna and follow the path shown by him.
