SONALI SINGH INSPECTED GANGA EROSION AT MANI RAM’S TOLA

ARA-----------------------Erosion has increased continuously due to the water level of Ganga river flowing above the danger mark in Bhojpur district. Mani Rai's Tola located in Izri Panchayat of Ara Sadar block has also come under its grip, due to which there is an atmosphere of fear among the villagers. Many houses have been evacuated as a precaution due to erosion.

Social worker Sonali Singh of Barhara Assembly reached on Wednesday to inspect the erosion affected area. She heard the problems of the villagers in detail and assured solution. The villagers alleged that gross negligence is being done in flood prevention work. The work which should have been started in January was done between May and June and left. The water level remains low in January, which would have been good work, but when the water level started rising, the contractor left the work incomplete. Due to which the situation has worsened further. The villagers were also threatened with police cases and arrest for raising their voice against the contractor. She said that despite spending crores of rupees, satisfactory work is not being done on the ground.

Sonali Singh also inspected the Ganga erosion site and said that the fear of the villagers is justified because Jawainiya village of Shahpur block has already been submerged in the Ganga and now Mani Rai's Tola is also in danger. She demanded from the district administration and DM Tanay Sultania that the irregularities in the flood prevention work should be investigated and action should be taken against the culprits so that people's trust in the administration remains intact.
