BHABHUA---------------------------The Kudra police station administration of the district arrested six trucks transporting sand from the Son River in Rohtas district via the National Highway for leaking water. Further action is underway. According to information received, late Tuesday night, during a night patrol, Kudra police station chief Nandu Kumar observed the driver and co-driver of a truck engaging in an altercation. Upon arrival, he discovered that a significant amount of water was leaking from the six trucks transporting sand. The police station chief immediately informed the District Mining Officer, and as per the District Mining Officer's instructions, all the trucks were immediately seized. On Wednesday, the mining officer arrived at the scene and inspected the seized trucks.

Further action is underway. Drivers and their associates say that there is no justification for the police station administration to stop vehicles loaded with sand; if anything, the administration has followed the rules. Know what the Motor Vehicles Act says about safe transportation.

Safe Transportation: The Motor Vehicles Act requires that material (including sand) loaded into a vehicle be covered and secured in a manner that prevents it from falling out during transportation and posing a danger to other road users.

Violations of rules: Water spilling from wet sand or blowing dry sand are violations of road safety and environmental regulations. In such cases, police may stop the vehicle and inform the relevant authorities. Transport officials may stop the vehicle and issue a challan or take other legal action. Suspicion of illegal mining/transportation: Often, rules are violated during the transportation of illegally mined sand. If irregularities such as water spilling from the vehicle are detected, the administration may suspect illegal transportation, which could lead to strict action, including vehicle seizure. Fines and Punishments Heavy fines can be imposed for violations. In case of repeated violations or involvement in illegal activities, the vehicle may be seized and prosecution may be initiated under relevant laws. Therefore, sand transportation should always be carried out in accordance with prescribed regulations, with the vehicle completely covered (with tarpaulin, etc.) and ensuring that no material spills out.
