The exploits of Sub-Divisional Public Grievance Redressal Officer Shweta Mishra in Katihar were exposed during her tenure as DCLR in Ara Sadar Subdivision of Bhojpur district. Then, her case had reached the Bihar Legislative Council via the district headquarters.
After a complaint of open extortion in the office, the then DM Rajkumar had got the broker arrested from his office. After the arrest of the broker, the suspicious work of Shweta Mishra as the then DCLR was exposed, after which the then DM had also written to the department to take action against her. She was accused of illegal land related activities through brokers in the office. Many local people had complained against this to the DM.
Legislative Council member Naval Kishore Rai had also raised his voice in the House. Before Ara, a case of Muzaffarpur Shelter Home was also exposed, in which many officials were found guilty, including Shweta Mishra, the then District Program Officer of Kaimur. The Special Surveillance Unit of the state has raided the locations of Shweta Mishra, posted as Public Grievance Redressal Officer in Manihari (Katihar). In this action taken in the case of acquiring property disproportionate to income, so far six and a half lakh cash, jewelry worth Rs 16 lakh as well as evidence of immovable property in Patna, Prayagraj and Ghaziabad have been found.
Apart from Manihari (Katihar), this raid was also conducted in Patna, Katihar and Prayagraj. During the investigation, evidence of their huge wealth was found. According to the information received from the Special Surveillance Unit, Shweta Mishra is accused of illegally earning huge wealth while in government service, which is much more than the salary received by her and other known sources.
A case has been registered against Shweta Mishra under different sections for earning illegal and illegitimate property worth Rs 80,11,659. Based on the allegations mentioned against Mishra, a case of having assets more than income by about 84.34 percent is made. After registering the case, SVU applied to the court and obtained a warrant to search Mishra's hideouts, after which simultaneous raids were conducted at his different hideouts on Thursday morning. According to SVU, so far 6.51 lakh cash, jewelry worth Rs 16 lakh, bank accounts and bank FDs worth about 20 lakh have been recovered from Shweta Mishra's hideouts. Apart from these properties, many immovable properties of Shweta Mishra have also been confirmed. These include Aradhya Mansion, AG Colony, flat in Sheikhpura, documents of a luxurious house in Tehsil Sadar of Prayagraj.
Rs 30-35 lakh have been spent on the decoration of this house. There is also a shopping space in Gaur High Street Rajnagar Extension NH 58 Ghaziabad in the name of Shweta Mishra. According to special surveillance, evidence of many lands being in the name of Shweta Mishra has also been found. On which a separate detailed investigation will be done. During the investigation, more property than the income earned is likely to be found in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. SVU has described him as a corrupt officer after investigation. After the action taken against Manihari based Public Grievance Redressal Officer Shweta Mishra, the investigating agency had to order a machine to count the recovered cash. However, the investigating agency has recovered only Rs. 6.5 lakh in the action taken so far.
This is not the first time a case has been registered against Shweta Mishra. Earlier when she was posted as DCLR in Sadar subdivision block of Ara in Bhojpur, at that time also serious corruption allegations were made against her. A proper investigation was also conducted in this case. Not only this, the matter of allegations against Shweta Mishra was raised even in Bihar Legislative Council.
