ARA--------------------------On Friday, a grand event of two-day cultural program 'Sawan Mahotsav' organized by various clubs of Maharaja College, Ara was organized. The aim of the festival was to provide a platform to the creativity, artistry and collective participation of the students. On the first day of the festival, Mehndi competition, Glass Painting Competition, and Model Competition based on the theme 'Waste to Best' were organized by Sandipani Fine Arts Club. Students participated enthusiastically in these competitions and displayed their creativity through beautiful creations. The second day was organized under the joint aegis of Dhrupad Music Club and Nataraj Dance Club, in which folk and classical song and dance competitions were organized. The program started with lighting of lamps, which was inaugurated by the newly arrived Principal Prof. Kanaklata and Prof. Sunita Sharma (who has recently been appointed as the Principal of Lalit Narayan College, Bhagwanpur) conducted the programme along with the programme coordinators Dr. Dwipika Shekhar Singh, Dr. Vandana Singh, Dr. Pragya Rai and Dr. Priyanka Kumari. After this, a solo dance based on Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta was presented, which mesmerized the audience. After that, a wonderful confluence of folk culture and classical style was seen in the song and dance competition. The anchoring of this entire programme was done very effectively by Bharti, a student of English department and Amit, a student of History department.

At the end of the programme, Principal Professor Kanak Lata honoured the participants by giving them certificates and mementos and all the volunteer students by giving them medals.

Winners of Mehndi Competition: Amit Kumar of History Department got first prize, Nisha Singh of Philosophy Department got second prize and Shagun of Geography Department got third prize. Winners of Model Competition: Sushma of Geography Department got first prize, Khushboo of BCA got second prize and Nisha Singh of Philosophy Department got third prize. Shweta Pandey, a student of Geography Department got first prize in Glass Painting. First prize in Dance Competition was given jointly to Muskan and Riya. Second prize was given jointly to Chanda and Anushka and Aarti got third prize. Muskan and Nisha got first prize in Couple Dance Competition while Sakshi and Amit got second prize. In her motivational message, Prof. Kanaklata said, “The creative talent of students is the foundation of their overall personality development and cultural activities are an integral part of their overall development.” She praised the excellent coordination and organizing ability of the program coordinators Dr. Dwipika Shekhar Singh, Dr. Vandana Singh, Dr. Pragya Rai and Dr. Priyanka Kumari. He also reiterated his resolve to develop Maharaja College as one of the best colleges as the Principal.

This two day festival was not only a celebration of art and culture but also a powerful example of self-realization, teamwork and organizational skills of the students.
