A retired Bengal Police Constable was shot dead late night in Karisath village, under the Gajrajganj OP, in the district. Armed assailants carried out the incident while he was sleeping. The deceased was shot three times at close range. Puncture marks were found on the deceased's left chest, right neck, left shoulder, and right back, along with a cut wound over his left eye. ARA-------------------------A retired Bengal Police Constable was shot dead late night in Karisath village, under the Gajrajganj OP, in the district. Armed assailants carried out the incident while he was sleeping. The deceased was shot three times at close range. Puncture marks were found on the deceased's left chest, right neck, left shoulder, and right back, along with a cut wound over his left eye. The family is alleging the shooting stemmed from a previous dispute. The incident has caused a sensation in the village and surrounding areas.
As soon as the information was received, Gajrajganj OP in-charge Chanchal Kumar Mahatha arrived at the scene, and the police called in the FSL team. The FSL team arrived at the scene and collected evidence from the scene. According to information, the deceased is Kanhaiya Yadav, 85, son of the late Jang Bahadur Yadav, a resident of Ward No. 14 of Karisath village, under the Gajrajganj OP of the Udwantnagar police station area. He was a retired constable in the Bengal Police and retired from the Lal Bazar police station in Kolkata in 2006.
Santosh Kumar, a close friend of the deceased, stated that three months ago, a fight broke out between the deceased's grandson, Vishal Kumar, and members of the other party. The dispute had been ongoing ever since. On Vijayadashami, the accused called the deceased's son's mobile phone and threatened to kill everyone. On Friday night, he was sleeping in the veranda of the hall when he was shot and killed around 12:00 am. However, due to heavy rain and thunder, the sound of the gunshots was obscured.
When the family woke up and went to the veranda, they found him lying dead, covered in blood. The family informed the local police station. The police took the body into custody and conducted a post-mortem at Sadar Hospital. During the post-mortem, not a single bullet was recovered from the deceased's body. All the bullets had passed through. However, the police are investigating the matter on their own.
It is reported that the deceased was his parents' only child. His family includes his wife, Dularo Devi, two daughters, Manju Devi and Ranju Devi, and a son, Raj Kumar Yadav. The deceased's son, Raj Kumar Yadav, is a CRPF soldier currently posted in Jammu and Kashmir. The incident has caused chaos in the deceased's home. His wife, Dularo Devi, and all the family members are inconsolable.
According to information received, the deceased's grandson was having an affair with his cousin. Her family had become aware of this, leading to a quarrel. Three days ago, the deceased's grandson ran away with his cousin. Gajrajganj OP in-charge Chanchal Kumar Mahatha stated that the deceased's grandson had eloped with his cousin two or three days ago. Due to this dispute, the deceased's family is accusing his cousin's father, brother, and other family members of murder. However, no application has been filed by the deceased's family yet. Further action will be taken after the application is submitted. However, the police are investigating the matter on their own.
