RAJIV NAYAN AGRAWAL

ARA---------------------------BJP leader Rakesh Ojha has expressed concern over the serious situation arising due to the erosion of the Ganges river in Jawainiya village of Shahpur region under Bhojpur district. He said that the entire area and especially the villagers are extremely saddened by this crisis and their pain is unbearable. Ojha expressed deep sorrow over the current situation of the village and expressed strong displeasure over the indifferent attitude of the public representatives.

Ojha alleged that the public representatives who were fighting among themselves till yesterday to take credit for the construction of the Thokar Dam are nowhere to be seen today, while the entire village is on the verge of being absorbed in the Ganges. He said, "Today the entire village is on the verge of being absorbed in the Ganges but it is very sad to see that neither the MP nor the MLA, no one is going to go to that village and understand the pain of the people." The BJP leader indicated that this fight to take credit must have been a fight to get a hefty commission from the contractors. He said that during his visit to Jawainiya village, the villagers had pointed out many irregularities in the construction of Thokar Dam, as a result of which it has become almost impossible to save the village today.

Rakesh Ojha has demanded the Bihar government to investigate this matter. He said that whoever is guilty will not be spared, because today the entire village is on the verge of extinction due to that one person.

Ojha urged the Bihar government to resettle Jawainiya village at a safe place. Demanding immediate relief, he said that the erosion of the Ganges river is at its peak and the people of the village are helpless. He also demanded from the government that all the affected villagers should be taken to a safe place, proper arrangements should be made for their accommodation, food and medical care, as well as fodder for the cattle.

Rakesh Ojha finally warned that once the flood situation becomes normal, whoever has stolen even a single rupee in the construction of Thokar Dam, efforts will be made to recover 10 times the amount through the government. The statement came at a time when flood and erosion situation remained serious in Shahpur assembly constituency.
