16-JUNE-ENG 14

RAJIV NAYAN AGRAWAL

ARA--------------------------The President's Secretariat, New Delhi has taken immediate cognizance of the application sent to His Excellency the President on 18 May 2025 by Advocate and former Joint Secretary - Bar Association, Ara Pramod Kumar Rai on the dilapidated condition of the open gym located at Ramna Maidan, Ara.

Pramod Rai was informed through email by Under Secretary Mr. Gautam Kumar that in the said case, the Chief Secretary of Bihar has been directed to hear this application expeditiously and inform the petitioner.

It is known that in the memorandum given by Pramod Rai, concern was raised over the breakage and dilapidated condition of almost all the equipment like leg press, pushup bar, chest machine, pulling machine of the open gym of Ramna Maidan. He said that this is causing hindrance to the daily exercise of the elderly, women and youth.

He also pointed out that thousands of citizens gather at Ramna Maidan every day for health benefits, but despite campaigns like "Healthy India" and "Fit India", the neglect of such basic facilities is extremely worrying.

The main demands that were put forth in the application: 1. Immediate repair or renewal of broken and dilapidated equipment of the open gym. 2. Immediate action by allocating budget from local body, municipal corporation or sports ministry. 3. Permanent arrangement for safety, cleanliness and regular maintenance at Ramna Maidan.

Pramod Rai praised this prompt initiative of the President's Secretariat and said that "now the ball is in the court of Bihar government and the state administration should take immediate action on this health-sensitive demand of the public." This effort once again proves that if proper and public interest issues are raised through constitutional means, then the administrative system also becomes active.
