The Chakki police station has intensified its search for the liquor smuggler Sarabjit, who escaped handcuffed from the Buxar Civil Court complex. This police action is no longer limited to local borders, but its reach has extended to the neighboring state of Uttar Pradesh. In this connection, a police team arrived at Daulatpur village, under the Narhi police station area of Ballia district, late Tuesday night, where they conducted repeated raids at the possible hideouts of the absconding accused. Several locations were searched during this operation, which continued late into the night, but no trace of the absconding accused was found.
It is noteworthy that Sarabjit Bind alias Lambu (32 years old), son of Yamuna Bind, was previously arrested by the Chakki police in a liquor smuggling case and sent to judicial custody. However, during further interrogation, he evaded the police and escaped from the scene. Following his escape, the investigation into the entire case has intensified, and police are conducting continuous raids to recapture him.
According to Station Officer Ajay Kumar, the team is conducting the search operation with utmost seriousness and no room for laxity is being left at any level. He says that with the help of technical inputs and local sources, efforts are continuing to arrest the accused, and it is hoped that he will be apprehended very soon.
Coordination between the Chakki and UP police has also been increased to track the absconding accused, so that his movements in the border areas can be monitored. Police believe that with the increased pressure, his chances of hiding will be limited, and his arrest is possible at any time. With the continued raids and increasing police pressure, it is clear that Sarabjit's arrest is now just a matter of time.
