BHABHUA----------------------------As part of the ongoing campaign against illegal activities in the district, police have busted a major gambling racket on the banks of the Suaran River behind Patel College. Acting on a tip-off, the raid resulted in the arrest of six gamblers red-handed. They recovered goods worth lakhs of rupees, including a large sum of cash, expensive motorcycles, and mobile phones. The Superintendent of Police had received information that some people were not only consuming alcohol but also gambling extensively on the secluded banks of the Suaran River, just behind Patel College. Given the seriousness of the information, a police team was immediately formed and sent to the scene for verification and necessary action. When the police team arrived at the banks of the Suaran River behind Patel College, they found approximately 15 to 20 people engaged in gambling in a circle. Upon sensing the police presence, all the gamblers fled the scene. But, the police force acted swiftly and surrounded the area and succeeded in arresting six people. After interrogation, the arrested gamblers were identified as: Akash Kumar, son of Kaulesh Singh, resident of Isiya, Police Station Chainpur; Bechu Kumar, son of late Ramchandra Shah, resident of Mokri, Police Station Bhabua; Abhay Kumar, son of Baldau Singh, resident of Bhabua Ward No. 6, Police Station Bhabua; Suraj Kumar, son of Mahendra Kumar Singh, resident of Sivo, Police Station Bhabua; Rahul Kumar, son of late Jaynath Singh, resident of Dumdum, Police Station Bhabua; and Ramanand Singh, son of late Vijay Kumar Singh, resident of Bhabua Ward No. 6, Police Station Bhabua. Police recovered ₹20,500 in cash, seven motorcycles: UP65 EW3445 (Yamaha R-1-5, black), BR45 Q1681 (Splendor, black), BR 45M8578 (Apache, black), BR45 R 8176 (Apache, black), BR24 AN2648 (Yamaha R-1-5, gray), BR45 L8477 (Pulsar, black), and BR 4552513 (Scooty, sky blue), four mobile phones, and playing cards used in gambling. A case has been registered against all arrested individuals under relevant sections of the IPC, and further legal action is underway. Police stated that such illegal activities will not be tolerated at any cost and the campaign against such elements will continue.
