SASARAM-----------------------------Prashant Kishor will have to reply within three days, otherwise action will be taken, the matter is that his name is registered in the voter list of two states.

Taking cognizance of the news published in today's date (28 October 25) in the Kolkata Patna edition of the daily newspaper The Indian Express regarding the name of Jan Suraj Party's founder Prashant Kishor being registered in the voter list of both the states of Bihar and Bengal, the Returning Officer of Kargahar Assembly Constituency and Land Reforms Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sasaram has issued a letter today asking Prashant Kishor to present his side in the said matter within three days. The letter states that according to a report published in the Kolkata-Patna edition of the daily newspaper "The Indian Express" on October 28, 2025, his name is listed in the electoral rolls of both Bihar and West Bengal. According to the report published in the newspaper, Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishore's name is listed at polling station St. Helen School, B. Ranishankari Lane, in the Bhawanipur constituency of West Bengal. He is also listed in Part No. 387 (Madhya Vidyalaya, Konar, North Division), Serial No. 621, of the 209-Kargahar Assembly Constituency. His voter ID number in the Kargahar constituency is IUI3123718.

The letter states that Section 17 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, prohibits a person from being registered in more than one constituency. Violations of this provision include imprisonment of up to one year, a fine, or both under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
