Although the dates for the Bihar Assembly elections have not yet been announced, the state's political scene has become increasingly active. All parties have begun their strategies and public relations campaigns. In this context, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi launched the Seemanchal Nyay Yatra, sounding the electoral battle cry. Owaisi, who arrived in Kishanganj on Wednesday, delivered a sharp attack on the Grand Alliance and opposition parties in a press conference.
When asked about his party's exclusion from the Grand Alliance, Owaisi stated clearly that the people of Bihar are watching to see who the BJP's "B-team" is. He explained that his party's state president, Akhtarul Iman, had written a letter to Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, and expressed their desire to join the alliance through the media. AIMIM had demanded only six seats, but Tejashwi Yadav did not respond.
Owaisi said, "We have fulfilled our responsibility. Now, the people of Bihar will decide who wants to strengthen the BJP and who is truly standing against it." However, he declined to provide specific information on the number of seats or the prospects of an alliance, saying only, "Everything will become clear once the list is released."
When journalists questioned him about the "I Love Mohammad" poster controversy, Owaisi bluntly stated that every Muslim loves Prophet Muhammad, and that it is part of their faith. The idea of banning such posters is completely wrong and hurts religious sentiments. Owaisi also criticized Tejashwi Yadav's promise to provide employment to degree holders. He said that it should first be clarified how many graduate youth are in Bihar. The public cannot be misled by mere empty promises.
Owaisi's Seemanchal Yatra has made it clear that AIMIM is preparing to contest the Bihar elections with full force this time. The party is considered to have a strong support base in Seemanchal districts like Kishanganj, Araria, Katihar, and Purnia. Last time, AIMIM surprised everyone by winning some seats from this region. Now, Owaisi's active participation is set to make the electoral contest here even more interesting.
Meanwhile, Owaisi's press conference and the Seemanchal Nyay Yatra not only demonstrate AIMIM's confidence but also indicate that it will no longer be easy for the Grand Alliance to rely solely on the Muslim vote bank in the upcoming elections. AIMIM's claim can become a challenge for both the Grand Alliance and the NDA.
