Road accidents remain a major problem in India, and a recent viral video has brought the issue back into the spotlight. The video, shared by @DriveSmart_IN on X-rated Twitter, shows a horrific collision between two motorcyclists (Viral Video), resulting from a miscalculated overtaking on a curve. The video appears to have been recorded on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru Highway in Karnataka, where both riders crossed the solid white line and crossed to the wrong side.

The video shows a biker in a yellow shirt overtaking a white car, while a biker in a blue shirt, coming from the opposite direction, also overtakes a truck in the wrong lane. As a result, the two bikes collide head-on, sending the riders careening off onto the road. Their helmets also fly off, clearly indicating they weren't properly strapped on. The video was shared to raise awareness about road safety, but it garnered millions of views.

Frames from the video show the incident occurred on a winding road with poor visibility. In the initial seconds, a white car and a green truck are traveling at normal speeds. The biker in the yellow shirt overtakes the car from the right, while the biker in the blue shirt overtakes the truck and comes around a curve. The impact is so severe that both riders are thrown into the air and fall onto the road, their helmets being ripped off. Nearby vehicles stop, and people rush to help. Comments on Instagram indicate that both riders suffered serious injuries, and one user speculated that the one in the blue shirt died, although there is no official confirmation. This accident reflects the optimism bias, where people believe that nothing will happen to them, but breaking the rules puts their lives at risk.

This accident is not an isolated incident; several similar incidents have occurred recently in India. For example, in Dumka, Jharkhand, three people were killed in a head-on collision between two motorcycles (Viral Video) near Mahadevgarh village. Similarly, in Solapur, Maharashtra, three people were killed and eight injured in a collision between a motorcycle and an SUV.

In Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, a woman died in a bike-truck collision, where the truck hit her and severely damaged her body. Punjabi singer Rajveer Jawanda died in a bike accident in Himachal Pradesh, which was linked to poor road conditions. In Karnataka, a case of murder was reported where a fake accident was staged to secure an insurance claim. These incidents demonstrate how dangerous overtaking, speeding, and rule-breaking can be.
