PATNA-------------------------A one-day workshop was organized at the auditorium of the Bihar Police Headquarters, Sardar Patel Bhawan, Patna, with the aim of ensuring greater transparency, clarity, and ease in pension-related matters of the police department. This important workshop was jointly organized by the Bihar Police Headquarters and the Principal Accountant General (Accounts and Entitlements), Bihar, Patna, with a special focus on streamlining departmental processes.
Director General of Police (DGP) Shri Vinay Kumar was present as the chief guest. He emphasized the need for transparency and timeliness in pension matters, stating that a pension is the right of a retired police officer and it is the department's responsibility to ensure they receive it on time and without any hassle. He expressed hope that the workshop would expedite the resolution of pending cases in the pension process.
Other senior officers present on the dais included Shri Santosh Kumar, Principal Accountant General, Bihar, Patna; Shri Nirmal Kumar Azad, Additional Director General of Police (Communication and Technical Services); and Dr. Kamal Kishore Singh, Additional Director General of Police (Budget/Appeals/Welfare). These officers shared detailed information regarding existing provisions related to pensions, document verification, financial procedures, and the resolution of pending files.
Other senior officers from the Bihar Police Headquarters and the Principal Accountant General's office also participated in the workshop. They discussed the challenges faced in various stages of the pension process—application, documentation, verification, approval, and payment—and provided necessary suggestions to overcome them. Emphasis was placed on quick resolution through digital systems, timely issuance of Pension Payment Orders (PPOs), and updating of records.
The officers stated that new processes and provisions are being implemented to reduce the complexity of pension matters and provide better facilities to retired personnel. Participants in the workshop were informed about all these changes so that they could handle pension-related matters more accurately and efficiently at their respective levels.
The main objective of the workshop was to make the pension process for police personnel transparent, simple, and expeditious. Officials stated that such dialogues and training would not only strengthen the system but also directly benefit retired police personnel and their families.
At the conclusion of the workshop, it was expressed that this initiative would lead to greater clarity and efficiency in the pension process in the future and significantly reduce the number of pending cases.
