BHABHUA-----------------------------With the objective of making the paddy procurement process transparent and smooth in the district, an important meeting of the District Task Force was held on Tuesday (December 16, 2025) under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate (DM). In this meeting, held in the conference hall of the Collectorate, the DM took a strict stance on the delay in the physical verification of rice mills.

During the meeting, when the District Manager (State Food Corporation) informed that the verification of rice mills had not yet been completed, the DM expressed strong displeasure. He reprimanded the concerned officials and instructed them to complete the verification work as soon as possible and with complete transparency. The District Cooperative Officer informed the meeting that 144 societies (PACS/trade associations) have been selected in the district so far for paddy procurement. The DM clarified that farmers should not face any kind of difficulty and all the selected societies should strictly adhere to the prescribed criteria. In the meeting, instructions were given to complete the mill tagging process soon according to the guidelines so that the supply of rice can be uninterrupted. Along with this, orders were given to ensure the availability of FRK in the mills and to resolve the cash-credit problems of the rice mills by coordinating with the banks. The District Magistrate categorically stated that the interest of the farmers is paramount in paddy procurement. Any negligence or irregularity at any level in the process will not be tolerated. The administration's goal is to ensure that farmers get a fair price for their produce on time.
