BHABHUA-------------------------------The demand for water in Bakhri Devi of Chainpur assembly constituency has taken the form of an election issue. Today, hundreds of farmers from four panchayats—Badauna, Bharari, Ramgarh and Saukhara—came out on the streets over the lack of water in the fields and staged a sit-in in the Bakhri Devi courtyard.
The farmers say that this region has given three ministers to Bihar—Mahabali Singh, Brij Kishore Bind and Jama Khan, who are currently ministers—but the problem of water in the farmers' fields has not been solved yet.
Binod Tiwari, Kesh Nath Maurya, Krishna Nand Pandey and Gangadhar Sadhu, who participated in the protest, said that even after the country's independence, the problem of water in the area remains the same. The angry farmers warned that they will boycott the vote until water is not available in the fields. The farmers say that they will vote for whichever leader fulfills their demand before the elections.
