PATNA--------------------------Dr. Janardan Kumar, former professor at Baker College, Massachusetts, USA, delivered a special lecture at Bihar Animal Sciences University. The topic was: "The role of hybridization technology in understanding the function of the Kinectin protein and its lack in medical science in India."
Dr. Kumar explained that his research, based on the microtubule motor protein Kinectin, has been published in the prestigious journal Science. He stated that hybridization technology is extremely useful for genomics and biotechnology, but its proper use has not yet been achieved in India.
He also discussed in detail the monoclonal antibody technology, which is playing a vital role in cancer treatment and biomedical research. Dr. Kumar suggested that universities should start PG and PhD programs in cell biology, which would create new research and employment opportunities.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Indrajit Singh stated that the university is committed to providing global opportunities to students and faculty. He emphasized the need to manufacture research materials and monoclonal antibodies domestically under the "Make in India" campaign.
Director of Research Dr. N.K. Singh expressed his gratitude, saying that Dr. Kumar's experience is a source of inspiration for the university. The Director of Extension Education, the Student Welfare Officer, and other faculty members were also present at the event. Dr. P. Kaushik presented a vote of thanks.
