ARA-----------------Former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said that the law's intention is clear, but corruption and negligence at the intermediary are weakening its effectiveness.

He who was attending a private event in Bihiya, Bhojpur district, Bihar, made a major statement regarding the liquor ban law. He said that prohibition is the best law in Bihar so far and that no law could be better than it. Sharing his experiences, he said that alcohol had caused many problems in his family, which prompted him to give up alcohol.

He said that only after giving up alcohol could he pursue an education and progress, and his brother became an inspector, but today he is no longer alive. Manjhi said that alcohol turns a person into a nocturnal animal, which is why prohibition is extremely important. However, he clearly stated that Bihar has suffered the infamy of prohibition due to officials and brokers. Manjhi alleged that many officials and brokers are colluding to defame prohibition.

The former Chief Minister said that the intent of the law is clear, but corruption and negligence at the intermediary level are weakening its effectiveness. He said that the government should further strengthen the monitoring system to ensure strict action against those involved in illegal liquor sales and those abusing the law. Manjhi's statement has once again raised serious questions about the administrative system regarding prohibition.
