ARA-------------------------To enhance passenger safety and make the travel experience more seamless on national highways, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Reliance Jio. Under this partnership, a telecom-based safety alert system will be rolled out across the entire national highway network for over 500 million Jio customers.
Using Jio's 4G-5G network, drivers will receive advance information on accident-prone areas, foggy patches, stray animal zones, and emergency diversions on their mobile phones. Safety messages will reach travelers via SMS, WhatsApp, and high-priority calls. This fully automated system will work for Jio mobile users on and near national highways and will not require any additional roadside hardware, as it will operate through existing telecom towers.
