ARA----------------------------A joint team of Bihar STF and Azimabad police station raided Kamariya village on Wednesday and recovered a large quantity of arms and cartridges. During this, the police arrested a smuggler, 6 country-made pistols, 12 magazines, 150 live cartridges, 3 passbooks, 2 mobiles and 1 bike were recovered from him.

This information was given by Superintendent of Police Raj during a press conference on Thursday. The arrested is Aman alias Rajkumar alias Raj Kapoor, son of Kashi Mahato alias Kashinath Singh, resident of Kamariya village of Azimabad police station area. He told that the STF team and Azimabad police station had received secret information that large scale arms and cartridges were going to be bought and sold in Kamariya village. After this, a joint team of STF and police raided the house of Kashi Mahato, resident of Kamariya village on Wednesday evening. From where a large quantity of arms and cartridges were recovered. The police arrested Kashi Mahato's son from the spot.

The SP said that the police in Azimabad police station have registered an FIR against the arrested smuggler under the Arms Act for the recovery of arms and cartridges. The arrested arms smuggler has an old criminal record. He has been involved in arms smuggling since long. One case is registered against him in Azimabad police station of Bhojpur and two cases in Gadhani police station. In this regard, the Azimabad police station had taken action to confiscate his house in February this year and his wife was arrested. Apart from this, he has also been accused in a case of assault and Arms Act in Kachchhawan police station of Rohtas district.
