ARA----------------------------In view of the upcoming assembly elections, the Prohibition Department, on the orders of District Magistrate Tanay Sultania, is conducting continuous raids and vehicle checks against illegal liquor in the district. Assistant Commissioner of Prohibition, Rajneesh, received a tip-off that a Mahindra XUV 500 car was carrying a large quantity of foreign liquor from Uttar Pradesh to Patna.
A raid team was formed under the leadership of Inspector of Prohibition, Shaprakash Chandra. The team achieved a significant success. During the vehicle check, a Mahindra XUV 500 car was stopped on suspicion near the Kayamnagar Overbridge on the Buxar-Patna four-lane, in the Geedha police station area of Bhojpur district.
Upon inspection, a large quantity of foreign liquor was recovered from the vehicle, which bore a Bihar registration number. The team arrested the driver, Vijay Kumar, son of Harilal Sao, a resident of Tulsi Mandi Ward No. 57, under the Alamganj police station area of Patna district. He was handed over to the court for further action.
138.24 liters of liquor in 768 pieces was seized from the said vehicle. The market value of the seized liquor was estimated to be around Rs 2 lakh. The seized liquor was being transported from Uttar Pradesh to Patna. The raiding team included Inspector Prakash Chandra, Sub-Inspector Shivam Kumar Jha, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ravi Kumar, Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajkumar Raja, along with prohibition constables, SAP and Home Guard personnel.
