PATNA---------------------------Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has once again made such a political move that has surprised everyone. He has made a big announcement for thousands of employees who play an important role in strengthening the education system. Now the honorarium of cooks working under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme, night guards of schools and physical education and health instructors has been doubled. This decision is no less than a big gift for these employees and it is expected to increase their morale tremendously.
This decision reflects the government's commitment to continuous improvement in the education sector. When the government was formed in 2005, the total budget of education was Rs 4366 crore, which has now increased to Rs 77,690 crore. This amount has been used in the construction of new schools, development of infrastructure and appointments of teachers.
This decision to increase the honorarium is another important step in this direction. Now cooks will get Rs 3300 instead of Rs 1650. At the same time, the honorarium of night guards has been increased from Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000. Similarly, the honorarium of physical education and health instructors has been doubled from Rs 8000 to Rs 16,000. Also, their annual salary increment has also been increased from Rs 200 to Rs 400.
The government believes that this respectable increase will boost the morale of the working personnel and they will perform their duties with more enthusiasm and dedication than before. This decision has been taken at a time when the government is continuously running welfare schemes for various sections. This step of Nitish Kumar once again proves that he does not shy away from taking big and effective decisions.
