ARA------------------------Former Jagdishpur MLA and senior RJD leader Bhai Dinesh, a popular social activist who raises his voice on important public issues in Bihar's Bhojpur district, held an important meeting with Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sanjeet Kumar on Saturday. During this meeting, he discussed two pressing issues in the area in depth and demanded their immediate resolution. He primarily emphasized ensuring proper rehabilitation for street vendors and the early opening of a portal for online applications for crop damage compensation to farmers.
In his memorandum submitted to the SDM, Bhai Dinesh clarified that before any action to remove street vendors is taken by the municipal administration, a concrete plan for their rehabilitation should be developed. He specifically highlighted that these street vendors earn between 200 and 500 rupees daily, which they use to support their families. This income is not just a means of livelihood for them, but the basis for their entire family's survival. The former MLA emphasized that removing these vendors from their current locations without any alternative arrangements would be a direct violation of their constitutional right to livelihood. This action would not only undermine their livelihoods but also pose a serious economic and social crisis for their dependent families. He urged the Sub-Divisional Officer to address this humanitarian issue and promptly identify suitable vending zones for these hardworking vendors so that they can earn their livelihoods with dignity.
In addition to the issue of street vendors, Dinesh also raised a serious issue concerning the farmers of Jagdishpur and Piro blocks. He informed the Sub-Divisional Officer that the online portal for filling out forms for crop damage compensation has not yet been activated. This situation is extremely worrying for farmers who have suffered massive losses to their crops due to natural disasters and are now waiting for government assistance. Due to the portal being closed, thousands of farmers are unable to register their losses, dashing their hopes. Due to non-receipt of compensation on time, the farmers will become financially weak, which will directly affect their farming and family expenses. Brother Dinesh, underlining the seriousness of the issue, stressed the need to open the portal immediately.
Sub-divisional Officer Sanjeet Kumar immediately took cognizance of this serious complaint. Understanding the gravity of the situation, he immediately contacted the Sub-divisional Agriculture Officer over the phone and directed him to activate the crop damage compensation portal by Monday at any cost. During this meeting, dignitaries of the area like Nayak Singh, Ward Councilor Sunil Singh alias Panda and Mohammad Jameel were also present.
