FLORAL TRIBUTED PAID TO BHIKHARI THAKUR

ARA-------------------------Today, on the 54th death anniversary, a wreath was laid on the statue of Bhikhari Thakur located at Patel bus stand. The program was conducted by Narendra Singh, President of Bhikhari Thakur Social Research Institute and District President of Shramjeevi Patrakar Union. Dilraj Pritam, who was present in the program, said that the utility of folk art has been relevant in every era. It was started for the benefit of the public and is now becoming a powerful medium of the market. He further described the creations of folk artist Bhikhari Thakur during the slavery period as an effective weapon of the cultural movement started against social evils. He also described the need to further enrich folk art in the present times. Today, there is a need to strengthen Bhojpuri language by getting it government recognition. Randhir Rana said that Bhikhari Thakur made a significant contribution to social reform through Bhojpuri folk art. Through his plays and songs, he attacked social evils such as oppression of women, poverty and casteism. He enriched Bhojpuri language and culture and made the society aware through folk songs. Many dignitaries including Vijay Singh, Krishna Yadav, Randhir Rana were present in the program.
