A false report of a gang rape of a woman late Tuesday evening caused considerable trouble for the Dumraon police. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police administration showed great promptness on the cold night. The station house officer himself got involved in the investigation and remained troubled all night, but the matter turned out to be much ado about nothing. It is worth noting that late Tuesday evening, a woman filed a complaint at the local police station, accusing three people of gang rape. During this time, the woman and her relatives were also pressuring the police to arrest the accused.
However, the police were suspicious of the victim woman's statement from the beginning. When the police took the woman to the scene of the incident, they found significant discrepancies between what the woman and her relatives had previously stated. The woman was also constantly changing her statement. However, the allegations were very serious, and her relatives were continuously pressuring the police, after which the station house officer, along with female police officers, took her to the Buxar Women's Police Station. There, when the female police officers started questioning her in detail, the matter turned out to be something else entirely. After this, the woman started retracting her allegations.
Clearly, the allegations made by the woman turned out to be false, but considering the woman's situation, the station house officer let her go with just a warning. The station house officer said that an investigation was conducted at the place mentioned by the woman until 2 AM, but no evidence was found. Later, after the truth came out, the woman was warned not to repeat such a mistake. However, this incident caused considerable trouble for the Dumraon police and forced them to search extensively from Dumraon to Buxar on a cold night.
