ARA------------------------Erosion of Ganga river continues in Jawainiya village located in Shahpur region of Bhojpur district, due to which the situation is becoming more serious. The houses which were seen standing on the banks of Ganga till yesterday have also been submerged in the river Ganga, due to which many families have become homeless. The windows and doors of the houses which are left were broken and the belongings were sent to safe places, because they are helpless and are forced to leave their homes. Erosion of Ganga river has affected not only houses but also life and livelihood.
The continuous erosion of Ganga river has put the villagers in a difficult situation. They now have no option left except going to government relief camps. Seeing the houses built with their life's earnings merging into the Ganga in front of their eyes, their helplessness is clearly visible.
A newly built two-storey house standing on the banks of the Ganga river in Joinia village, which looked like the luxurious houses on the seashore of Mumbai till yesterday, has now completely submerged in the river Ganga. This house belonged to a businessman of the village, who had built it for his father and its estimated cost is said to be ₹35 lakh. Local people say that other houses which were standing till yesterday have also been washed away by the water.
Erosion affected people are now forced to live under plastic sheets on the dams. According to media reports, poisonous creatures like snakes have also been seen near these temporary shelters, due to which there are serious concerns about the safety of small children.
Local people are very angry with the government. They allege that these terrible conditions have arisen due to the negligence of the government. They say that if the government had taken steps in time, then this situation would not have happened today. People demand that the head of the government should come to the village and meet the people.
The villagers have appealed to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar that if he is coming to Ara, he should also visit Joinia village, which is only 20 kilometers away from Ara. People believe that in this difficult time, the Chief Minister should share their pain and sorrow. It is also the responsibility of the government to meet the affected people, listen to them and understand their pain.
