He advised students to be vigilant against cybercrime, advising them not to click on any unknown app links without verifying them, not to share OTPs, not to share bank account details, and to be wary of fraud. ARA-------------------------NSS Unit 1 and Unit 2 organized a poster competition on cybersecurity at M.M. Women's College, Ara. The competition was chaired by the college's Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Narendra Pratap Palit. He advised students to be vigilant against cybercrime, advising them not to click on any unknown app links without verifying them, not to share OTPs, not to share bank account details, and to be wary of fraud. NSS volunteers should also raise awareness about this.
Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Kumar, Head of the History Department, explained that the first cybercrime occurred in 1999. For security purposes, the cybersecurity number 1930 is a toll-free number, which you can use when needed. He also explained in detail the punishment for cybercrime.
Dr. Smriti, Program Officer, NSS Unit 1, said that Bob Thomas, considered the "father of cybersecurity," created the first virus, Creeper, in 1971, highlighting the need for security on the Internet. His colleague, Ray Tomlinson, responded by developing the first antivirus software, Reaper, which identified cyber threats and how to protect against them. Dr. Sudha Niketan Ranjani, Program Officer, Unit 2, shared her personal experience, discussing the importance of being cautious of cybercrime.
Rajnandini was honored for participating in the state-level Red Run Marathon competition, and Manisha Kumari, who participated in the state-level January 26th parade competition, was honored.
Shazma won first place in the poster competition, Muskan second, and Richa third. Students participating in the poster competition included Muskan Kumari, Aditi Kumari, Anupam Prabha, Nutan Prabha, Priyanshi Kumari, Khushi Kumari, Aksha, Himanshi Goldie, Pragati, and NSS volunteers.
The jury consisted of Anamika Kumari, Head of the Department of Sociology, and Rajbala, Assistant Professor of Zoology. The stage was moderated by NSS volunteer Kaushiki.
The NSS of M.M. Women's College also organized a youth voter signature campaign today to ensure maximum youth voter participation in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
