BUXAR--------------------------A successful discussion and speech competition was organized at Maharshi Vishwamitra College, Buxar, under the ‘Developed India Youth Parliament 2026’ program, on the topic “50 Years of Emergency: A Lesson for Indian Democracy.” The main objective of the program was to create awareness among the youth about democratic consciousness, constitutional values, and parliamentary traditions.

The chief guest and jury member of the program was the MLA of Buxar Sadar, Hon'ble Anand Mishra, while the program was presided over by the college principal, Prof. Krishna Kant Singh. District Youth Officer Komal Nigam, NSS Coordinator Dr. Sadhana Rawat, and the college's program officer Dr. Virendra Prasad were also present as jury members.

In his address, the chief guest said that the Emergency is an important chapter in the history of Indian democracy, which provides a lasting message about the protection of civil rights, freedom of expression, and constitutional institutions. Principal Prof. Krishna Kant Singh urged the youth to imbibe democratic values ​​and play an active role in nation-building.

In the speech competition, students from various colleges presented factual, logical, and impactful views on the topic. Based on the evaluation by the jury, Nuri Sumitra (College Dumraon) secured the first position, Vijay Lakshmi (BHU) secured the second position, and Praveen Singh (Arts Campus, Patna) secured the third position.

Besides these, Viraj Singh, Krishna Murari Singh, Saloni Kumari, Muskan Singh, Raksha Kumari, Payal Kumari, and Anjali Kumari also gave commendable performances. At the end of the program, the participants were felicitated, and best wishes were extended for their bright future. Among the faculty members present were Dr. Mahendra Pratap Singh, Senior Professor of the History Department, Dr. Avnish Pandey, Professor of the Philosophy Department, Dr. Naveen Shankar Pathak, Dr. Priya Ranjan Chaubey, Dr. Priyesh Ranjan, Dr. Shwet Prakash, Dr. Archana Kumari, Dr. Virendra Kumar, Dr. Rakesh Tiwari, Dr. Vibha Srivastava, and other faculty members of the college.
