BUXAR----------------------------On the instructions of the All India Congress Committee and the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee, a seminar on "Protecting the Constitution and Protecting Democratic Values" was organized on Wednesday under the auspices of the Buxar District Congress Committee. The program was presided over by District Congress Committee President Dr. Manoj Pandey. The seminar began with the garlanding of the statue of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and the lighting of a lamp.
The program was graced by the presence of senior advocates, social workers, academics, and business leaders from the city. Dr. Shyam G. Mishra, a former teacher at M.B. College, Buxar, was invited as the keynote speaker and presented with a shawl, a Congress scarf, a Gandhi cap, and a copy of the Constitution.
In his presidential address, Dr. Manoj Pandey stated that the Indian National Congress played a historic and decisive role in strengthening the Constitution and safeguarding the democratic system after independence. He said that Congress, having won absolute majority in 11 general elections, provided stable leadership and made immense sacrifices to protect the Constitution. “Mrs. Indira Gandhi and Mr. Rajiv Gandhi made the supreme sacrifice in protecting the nation and the Constitution, which the country will always remember.”
He further said that the Narasimha Rao government's 73rd and 74th Amendments granting constitutional status to Panchayati Raj and urban bodies, and the Manmohan Singh government's enactment of the Right to Information Act, Right to Education Act, Food Security Act, and Land Acquisition Act, were historic steps towards strengthening the Constitution's core spirit.
Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee member Dr. Pramod Ojha said that Congress's ideological leadership and public support ensured a two-thirds majority in the Constituent Assembly, resulting in a strong and progressive Constitution today. He said, “No matter how strong the Constitution is, if the people implementing it are not honest, it cannot fulfill its purpose—an example of which is evident in the current regime.”
The main speakers at the event included Sanjay Kumar Pandey (District Farmers Cell President), Virendra Ram, Sanjay Kumar Dubey, Pappu Dubey, Dr. Satyendra Ojha, Trijogi Narayan Mishra, Kamal Pathak (Block President), Sabir Hashmi, Abhishek Jaiswal, Social Media District President Abhay Mishra, Pinky Kumari, Kumkum Devi, Runi Devi, Khushboo Kumari, Raju Yadav, Rakesh Yadav, Muktinath Dubey, and representatives from Jharkhand. Hundreds of activists, social workers, senior advocates, and citizens with literary interests were present at the event.
In the end, all the speakers unanimously said that Congress will always be at the forefront in protecting the Constitution and preserving democratic values, and will not shy away from making sacrifices if necessary.
