Now, during festivals, bus facility will be available for Bihar from many major states of the country including Delhi. For this, the state government is going to operate 299 AC and non-AC buses.
All Biharis living outside Bihar wish to come home during festivals. Especially during Holi, Deepawali and Chhath Puja, people of Bihar want to come to their ancestral villages in large numbers but many times they are unable to reach due to not getting train and plane tickets. In such a situation, their desire to celebrate festivals with their family remains unfulfilled. Especially during Deepawali and Chhath Puja, a lot of struggle has to be made to come to Bihar. In such a situation, to overcome the problems of the people coming to Bihar on the occasion of the festival, the Bihar government has made a big announcement and has decided to operate 299 AC and non-AC buses. These buses will run from different states of the country to Bihar.
People of Bihar come to their homes in large numbers from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and West Bengal on the occasion of various festivals, especially Chhath, Holi, Diwali and Durga Puja. People have to face a lot of difficulties in coming to Bihar on the occasion of festivals. In such a situation, the state government is constantly taking steps to facilitate the travel of the people and for their convenience.
It has been approved in the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on 24 June 2025 under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The state government will spend Rs 105.82 crore on the purchase of 75 air-conditioned and 74 deluxe buses. Also, 150 additional AC buses will be operated under public private partnership.
Now people will not have to worry about travelling during festivals, especially on Deepawali and Chhath Mahaparva. People of Bihar from many major states of the country including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana will be able to easily come to their villages by bus and celebrate festivals with their families.
Along with this, the state government will request the central government to run more special trains on the occasion of festivals, especially Holi, Durga Puja, Deepawali and Chhath Puja. This will make it very convenient for people to come to Bihar and they will be able to reach home comfortably.
