SASARAM-------------------------Hundreds of innocent schoolchildren risk their lives every day to cross the raging river at Tardeeh School in the Rohtasgarh Panchayat.
The government may claim to spend crores on education and development, but the reality of Rohtasgarh Panchayat is clearly visible in the photographs. Here, innocent children have to cross the river daily to go to school. Neither government schemes provided a safe path for these little steps, nor did the administration take any action. It's worth noting that at a time when Naxalites were dominant, people didn't even understand the importance of education. But now, when forest dwellers want to exercise their fundamental rights, even government negligence is no obstacle.
It's worth noting that during the rainy season, this Awasani River is known for its abundant water in this region. It can become a river of death during the rainy season. Many accidents have occurred, but thanks to the perseverance of the villagers and the supervision of the school administration, the children are helped to cross the river. But the officials remain unperturbed.
Panchayat head Nagendra Yadav stated clearly that an application was submitted to Panchayati Raj Minister Murari Gautam in 2022, but no resolution has been found. Several senior district officials were also urged to address the issue, demanding that children from five villages, including Haraiya Deeh, Aam Deeh, and Kodiari, cross the river to attend this school. They questioned whether a bridge should be constructed or education facilities should be provided to those villages as well. They questioned whether the government will only wake up after children lose their lives.
Villagers say that leaders make big promises whenever elections approach, but neither a bridge has been built nor an alternative route has been developed to ensure the children's education and safety.
In such circumstances, claims of development are proving hollow, and the public feels betrayed.
