ARA---------------------------If the Bihar government does not announce the creation of the Shahabad Commissionerate and establish its headquarters in Arrah before the code of conduct comes into effect, the Shahabad Commissionerate Construction Struggle Committee will intensify the agitation. This was stated by Struggle Committee convener Dhirendra Prasad Singh during a press conference at Hotel Park View in Arrah. Mr. Singh stated that the Struggle Committee will be forced to launch a do-or-die agitation if this demand is not met. Shahabad's four former districts, Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, and Rohtas, meet all the requirements for a commissionerate. The provincial mounted police office is located in Arrah, and the record room for the entire Shahabad district is located in Arrah. The GST and Income Tax headquarters are also in Arrah. The head office of Veer Kunwar Singh University is located in Arrah. The headquarters of the Irrigation and Electricity Departments are located in Arrah. The engineering college and medical college are also located in Arrah. The headquarters of the former Shahabad district was also in Arrah. So why is the government lagging behind in establishing a commissionerate and moving the headquarters to Arrah? He added that commissionerates have been established in three districts and two other districts in the past, but the Shahabad commissionerate has not been established due to the indifference of successive governments. This is a long-standing demand of the people of Shahabad, yet no government has been able to establish the Shahabad commissionerate in the last 20 years. The apathy of public representatives is the primary reason for the lack of a commissionerate. In the press conference, there was also a discussion about inclusion of Bhojpuri in the eighth list and all-round development of Ara. Prominent people present in the press conference included Bhai Brahmeshwar, Awadhesh Kumar Pandey, Ramkumar Singh, Ashok Kumar Mishra, Dr Jitendra Shukla, Yashwant Narayan, Chhotu Singh, Chandan Tiwari, Abhay Vishwas Bhatt, Dr Raj Pandey and others. The Sangharsh Samiti unanimously appealed to the citizens of Shahabad to participate in the Maha Dharna organized near JP Memorial on 16 September 2025.
