ARA---------------------------The condition of many major roads of Ara city has become very bad these days. Potholes, broken asphalt and waterlogging have made the daily movement of citizens difficult. The sad thing is that despite continuous complaints and demands regarding the situation, concrete action has not been taken yet.
If inquired at the administrative level, the same answer is received from everywhere – “The work is going to start very soon.” But the public wants to know when will this “very soon” come?
Roads full of potholes – walking on which has become risky for both drivers and pedestrians. The condition worsened in the rainy season due to lack of drainage. Traffic jams and accidents are occurring at many places.
According to sources, tenders for repair and reconstruction have been issued, but in view of the rainy season, hotmix or concrete construction work is not being started. Technically, asphalting work during rain is not considered appropriate, so contractors are avoiding starting work for now.
The public believes that even if the entire construction work is not possible, potholes can be temporarily filled and patchwork can be done so that people get relief. But seriousness is not being seen in this direction either.
Pothole filling and repair (patchwork) should be done immediately during the rainy season. A concrete date for the main construction work should be announced so that people know when they will get relief. Accountability of officials and agencies responsible for delay in work should be fixed.
Improving the condition of roads is not possible only with government assurances – ground action is necessary for this. The people of Ara now want answers as to when the work on the roads will start, why it has not started till now, and will the work really start on time after the rains or will the date be extended again?
If the government and administration do not take action soon, then this issue can become the cause of great public anger in the coming times.
